Planet Fitness WORKOUT AGAINST CANCER

Benefitting:

WORKOUT AGAINST CANCER will be held at 21 Planet Fitness locations across the State of CT to benefit Connecticut cancer patients and their families. The event will take place from 8 am – 5 pm and all Planet Fitness members AND non-members have the option to run, bike, walk climb, lift or row in support of this cause. All registered participants will receive a free event t-shirt, have access to any participating Planet Fitness club from 8am-5pm (with direct access to certain equipment) and enjoy a post-workout snack (including bread from Chabaso Bakery, Larabars and much more!) Invite your family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and anyone else you can think of to workout with you for a good cause!

You can register online by clicking here or by visiting your local participating Planet Fitness location. Registration fee is $25 per participant. Registrants are also encouraged to fundraise for the Connecticut Sports Foundation. All registered participants who raise $100 will receive a free entry for the Workout Against Cancer event.

Meet the Faces of WORKOUT AGAINST CANCER

Allie, 3- years- old, Derby, CT

Allie was your typical normal 2 yr old. She never really got sick, and was always happy and silly. Allie started to run a high fever at night only. After being brought to the Emergency Room and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. That night Allie was admitted to the hospital and started chemotherapy the next morning. Allie still has 2 1/2 yrs of treatment ahead of her.

Adriel, 6-years-old, Fairfield, CT

Marik, 10-years-old, Groton, CT

Marik is an amazing kid with an infectious smile. He was born with Bi-lateral hearing impairment, but he doesn’t let anything slow him down! In August 2012, Marik was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma of the right tibia. He underwent 12 weeks of chemotherapy, then an above knee amputation of his right leg on Nov. 27. The first thing Marik asked for when he woke up was a running foot! Marik was up and walking the next day! He still has 28 weeks of chemotherapy left, but faces each day with courage, laughter, and a positive outlook. Marik loves neon green, Hot Wheels, Legos, and electric guitars. His favorite sports teams are the Dallas Cowboy’s and the Texas Longhorn’s! When you ask Marik what he wants to be when he grows up, the answer is always the same…FAMOUS!

While all money raised from this fundraising event will be given to Connecticut Sports Foundation a large portion of all the proceeds will be given to these three patients and their families.
